More Wine Darling

There are many commentaries on working class dysfunctional families, but finding similar themes in a comfortable Irish middle class environment is rare.  In More Wine Darling Hank Regan has painted a very funny picture of a modern Irish family with relationship difficulties.

Paddy is at home with his leg in a cast having fallen off a roof.  His married daughter is having an affair with her plumber and is totally distracted.

His grown up son is battling with binge drinking.  His wife isn’t sure if she is leaving him or not.  The housekeeper is the only one who is trying to look after him but mistakes his genuine gratitude for a sexual come on, which by the way, she is not adverse to.  There is also a single, middle aged family friend who decides that Paddy would do nicely to relieve her sexual frustration.  Finally there’s the son in law who is a pain in the arse.   Paddy just wants to rest but has to deal with this motley crew of characters dropping by; some harassing him for sex others just wanting his advice.  When those seeking counsel cross paths with the lusty, hilarious consequences ensue with many jumping to the wrong conclusions.  As a fast paced modern farce there are some great roles for an adult cast of three men and 4 to 5 women.
